I have been with ebay & paypal for 6 years and have processed over $40,000 a month through them. We have had 1 chargeback in 6 years and have never processed a stolen credit card. We thought we had an excellent history through paypal, but they froze my account for NO reason what so ever. They also pulled my credit report without my permission and violated my rights. They are holding onto thousands of dollars and will not release the money for 180 DAYS.
I warn anyone that wants to use paypal to reconsider. I will be filling with the FTC and Attorney general as well. I have hired an attorney to sue them for violating my rights and pulling my credit report without permission.

only been used for occasional purchases until last August when I created an Ebay profile and began buying things for a Halloween Party I was planning.
Everything was fine and dandy, until I branched into a full business account and began selling on Ebay as well.
Not only was I buying and selling on Ebay, but as the webmaster of a rather large scale, community specific portal I also decided to add a "Donate" button to my portal of which many users and members happily submitted small amounts of donations.
Things got wirey and strange after I began to sell larger or more expensive items through Ebay, and even offered some of my own software developements on my portal via Paypal's convenient Button Generator.
I'd racked up just over 5000.00 USD into this account from both donations and sales of legitimate items which were shipped to happy buyers and positive feedback (100%) given to me.
I logged into my account one day to see that Paypal was requesting some documenation to be sent/faxed, as well as company information provided, which of course I'd already done when upgrading to a full business account.
I did however fax the onfo they were requesting, along with proofs of shipping/tracking statements for the items I'd sold on Ebay.
Now keep in mind, nobody had made any complaints about me or my services nor had anyone even asked for refunds or submitted chargebacks.
I waited the "3 days" Paypal "claimed" I had to wait in order ot have the limited account status lifted from my account.
Nothing.
I emailed Paypal and received only their notorious "canned email responses".
After another week of waiting, I called Paypal (long friggin distance, I might add) waiting on hold for nearly 20 minutes only to end up speaking to a supposed "customer service representative" for another 20 mins listening to how I should simply refer to their Terms Of Service. My repsonse to this was demanding to speak to someone there with Authority. Someone who, at best, could explain t ome WHY my account was flagged as "Suspicious" and, considered to be "High Risk". I'd done nothing wrong, nor had I gone against any of their ToS.
This occured nearly 2 months ago. More recently, my wife's personal Paypal account also was placed on "Limited Account Status" pending an investigation, and pending the submittance of documents including her Drivers' License, Utility Bill and Company Info.
she has a PERSONAL PAYPAL ACCOUNT, NOT a Business account. They froze over 600.00 USD in her account AND retracted her recent wathdrawl of those funds to her bank the day AFTER she'd made that initial withdrawl.
So, same house, same IP, same ISP, different computers, they link the two of us together and flag us both as "suspicious".
Fine.
However, I am the last person Paypal wants to deal with at this point as, I am certianly one to NOT simply let things slide unnoticed or unnattended.
I have since been making use of Paypal's telephone contact numbers and email addresses made public thanks to Paypalsucks.com and, have also made a direct effort to sway others from using or registering with Paypal by any means - Of course using my community portal and it's weekly newsletters to more than 250,000 members has begun to cause some others to ask many questions regarding Paypal's ToS and functions.
My portal, which used to baost the ease of using paypal to make payments and sumbit for the donations is now officially a NO PAYPAL Zone.
I do not cross-link, advertise, co-exist or prmote ANY site that makes use of Paypal.com and have removed SEVERAL links from within our database that in fact use Paypal.
I am indeed a lod-mouth and, with a few active (and very widely read and well respected blogs), and a few key portals, I will joyfully advertise ANTI-PAYPAL news and images until they're blue in the face.
Personally, I'd like my 5000 USD back. I'd like my wife to get her 600 USD back, I dont see this happening, at least not in the near future and, it would seem we're yet 2 more victims of Paypal's "make 'em wait 6 months" plan.
I've begun communicating with an acquaintance who, makes and prints T-Shirts who, has offered as well to make use of the No PayPal logos, we'll communicate with the founders and owenrs of the rights to these logos and see what comes of it.
Paypal seems to like to throw blankets over the problems - myself, like many of you, I'm sure, would like nothing more than to fully expose and discredit Paypal.
Just my 2 cents. (withoutthe Paypal Fees, of course)

Sorry to hear of your paypal troubles, and your rozen account also.
Paypal's "quick-to-freeze" additional account via "linking to other accounts" or ip addresses, postal locales etc, has been proven to be a favorite past time of the heartless ****s at paypal.
When trying to legitimately dispute and settle issues with their "highly trained staff of ignorant, uneducated morons" there seems to be a certain "joke-factor" they rely on.
during a conversation with one of their customer service morons, I actually had the displeasure of hearing the woman say to her co-worker, "You should hear this guy, he's so desparate, ha ha ha..."
I thought, my god, if I were anywhere near the building where these people sat at their desks I'd be a prime candidate for waltzing in there with an arsenal of sorts.
NEVER, have I experienced such lack of professionalism or lack of tact and care from anyone considered "customer support". Disgusting, to say the very least.
I've learned though, over these past few months that, Paypal is NOT to be trusted by anyone, or any organization, under ANY circumstances.
Here in Canada, we dont have the threat of Paypal dipping into our personal bank accounts, mind you. When I mentioned this issue to my bank manager, she simply laughed and assured me that Paypal was in no way authorized to make ANY withdrawls from my account - its considered illegal - stealing.
Granted, Paypal must of course look out for their 'best interest" as well they must apply certain standards and practices in order to maintain account holders' steady processes, yet, the way they go about this is scapegoat-eqsue. They seemingly do nothing but protect themselves and fail miserably to protects the account holder.
Locking ones' funds is in a nutshell, ILLEGAL, and BECAUSE they're NOT a bank and therefor NOT sunject to Federal Banking Regulations - simple.
But they're attempting to apply those regs to their own set of rules. Also, illegal.
Changing a ToS in the midst of existance in order to appease themselves is heartless, illegal, ( to current account users), and downright scetchy.
I will never use Paypal again. I purchase A LOT online and from many different conmpanies and, since my own experience with Paypal I have completely outcasted ANY business accepting Paypal as a means of payment.
Even if a company offers additional ways of paying, I have decided to shop elsewhere and have made it known to the company owner that, I will NOT use them so long as they're making use of Paypal.
Paypals' days are numbered I think. Especially with Google now getting ready for the release of their own payment processor.
Let's face it, Paypal has seemingly pioneered this sort of payment processor, yet, like the Japanese, there is ALWAYS someone who comes along and BETTERS a service type or product.
