I guessing most of the regulars here probably know about this sort of thing, but I thought I'd post this for the beneift of those that dont and for visitors to this forum.
Ebay scam: E-Book
Criminals after your money prey on unsuspecting ebay users to get them to buy what they think is something of high value at a cheap price, such as TVs, playstations, cameras etc.
All they are actually getting is a brochure of some sort telling them of police auctions that may be selling these items, which are stolen-recovered and unclaimed by the owners.
These people make thousands by the time they are caught by ebay (if they are caught). Whether people get their money back I don't know, but I did notice that some (if not all) of the listing say immediete payment required. So they can probably withdraw their money from paypal and disappear by the time you discover you've been had!
The listings will be something like this:
POLlCE-SALE SAMSUNG 42" LCD TV C/W ACCS-EB00K
If you suspect a listing is a scam like this, then check the sellers feedback, look out for many multiple purchases from the same user, you will also probaby find that users feedback is private (ie. you cant see that persons feedback is or even what rating they have).
