Ebay allows illegal sales tax collection.

I recently won an item from an out of state indivual seller in California. The invoice included 8.25% sales tax. When I complained to him that unless he had a business in my state that wasn't a legal charge. He said he did it to prevent from losing money.

A link in his listing shows he charges 8.25% sales tax even to states like Alaska that do not even have a sales tax. I asked for his sales tax ID for California. He refused.

I reported this scam to ebay who doesn't have a policy against illegal charges and they suggested I report him to the goverment authorities. I did but he's still selling.

If ebay doesn't police it's operation, either the government will do it or buyers like me will become less trusting of ebay and purchase from more reputable sources.
