Well, Amazon v. eBay has plusses and minusses on both sides.

First the plusses:-

AMAZON - you get much higher prices that people are prepared to pay, they do all the work of "making the description look good" for you (although there are errors sometimes)

EBAY - anything you want to sell, of course it can be gone in one week's time, HUGE marketplace for just about everything.

Yeah yeah we all know that. Now the minusses (I just know somebody's gonna have a go at me for my spelling of that!!):-

AMAZON - just takes WAY TOO LONG to sell stuff, HIGH fees (but those have come down recently)

EBAY - most often the items are devalued or undervalued. I mean that you rarely get what you should as a seller (unless you're lucky!)

So which do I prefer? BOTH of course, but Amazon has a different kind of buyer than eBay. The Amazon buyer expects much more from you as the seller - higher standards kind-of thing is what I mean.

Well, that's a start. What do you all think?

Welcome to the forum!

I was speaking to somebody at work who has tried selling on Amazon, and had difficulties as well. Postage rates are pre-set and there are restrictions on how much you can sell items for - all seems a bit complex, but I've never looked into it much myself.

The Amazon Affiliate programme is altogether different - you are simply referring people to look at items on Amazon, which could be more profitable than selling on it in the first place!

Actually I think it's a VERY good thing that Amazon sedt these themselves. Why? Because look at eBay. WAY too many people on there OVERCHARGE by a colossal amount just to avoid fees.

Not sure what these restrictions on how much you sell for are? What do you mean?

Ah, maybe I know. For things like mobile phones, you have to be what they call an "Approved Seller" before you sell the more recent mobiles. Maybe THAT is the restriction you mean. By the way, don't confuse the Amazon Associates affiliate progreamme with what I am talking about. Now THAT is something I have tried tried and TRIED without earning a single PENNY from. In fact, I've only had about three clicks in 3 years plus!! Why doesn't it work for me? No idea!
