Through my years as an Ebay member I've come to wonder if there are not some folks that list things for auction and create one or more other accounts. The reason I wonder this is, seems funny to me that I can find things to bid on that have been listed for some time and no bids made on them then as soon as I bid I get out bid. So I've thought, that person was not satisfied with my bid and has another account or more and uses one of them to bid against me to raise the price up. Are there any Ebay safeguards to prevent this? If so what and how?

There's a link on this page to report this practice, known as shill-bidding.
